North States Auto-Close Gate-Must Buy!

It goes without saying that not all pet and dog gates are created equal. I’ve learned through experience that pricier does not always mean better, and that nice looking cherry oak isn’t a substitute for quality. The North States Auto-Close gate offers form and function-the whole package. In other words, it looks swell and works even better. I can open it with one hand, and it closes behind me without getting obnoxious, not too loud, not too fast. That’s a great plus when toting around a little baby. It fits in standard size doorways and stairtops. The child-proof lock is another plus, and it’s already proven capable of taking a lot of punishment from a full grown lab. Sure, its a few bucks, but having already gone through two cheap gates, I say reach in your pocket now and save yourself the headaches later. This product is worth the splurge.

You can find the gate at my favorite store:

Why the Ergo Auto Pet Feeder Rocks!

September 28, 2010 Leave a comment

The Ergo Auto Pet Feeder is a dog owner’s dream. We’ve got our Ginger on a regular diet of dried food, which is easily dispensed from this lovely device. I’ve tried a few other feeders and experienced numerous jamming problems. Not once with the Ergo Feeder. Not only is it shockingly quiet (we can still hear the tv when it dispenses,) we can easity adjust the food portion as needed, due to a whopping 8 easy-to-program settings and digital timer. Ginger hasn’t been able to gnaw through the chew proof cord-yet another plus. The manual override switch, battery backup for programs and daily saving feature are three icings on the Ergo cake. It’s pricey, but its durability and usability make the Ergo Auto Feeder worth the splurge. This is a must buy, friends!

P.S. -They now sell this product at www.k9cratesandmore.com. My favorite site! Here’s the link:

Why I love the Simpson Ventures Pet Residence

why i love the Simpson Ventures Mr.Herzher’s Pet Residence Dark Brown Wicker

Anyone who wants to combine form and function while pampering their pooch will love the Simpson Ventures Pet Residence. The furntiture-grade frame is sturdy. My one year old has slammed countless toys against it without making so much as a dent. The wicker insert panels look great and don’t absorb odors. The two-way doors open both ways and are very easy to latch. Our full grown lab mix Ginger is a pretty big girl, and she’s got pleny of room to move around. She actually seems to prefer it to the old steel monstrosity we had before. One of the biggest pluses of this product may be how easy it is to cling. The pan is easy to slide in and out. The wood comes clean with soap and water-no major scrubbing needed! The nice neutral color blends well with our beige walls. The drawbacks? It may be a bit pricey, if you’re used to steel crate price tags. For a pet residence its pretty darn reasonable.

Here’s a link to the site we got our Pet Residence from. Very nice company.

Dog rescued after trapped over an hour in burning building

September 14, 2010 Leave a comment

Jennifer Beard, a worker at the Chesire Bridge Animal Clinic in Atlanta, was shocked yesterday to discover her apartment building had caught fire. Even worse was the news that her little terrier mix, Shivon, was still in the building.

After over an hour of fighting the blaze, firefighters reported that they had located Shivon. Six men ultimately managed to chase down the terrier mix, crate him and tow him out of the burning building and back to Jennifer. Damage to the building was reported as extensive, but fortunately Shivon escaped with no injuries.
